El-Obeid

History
- El-Obeid was founded in the 19th century and has historical significance due to its role during the Mahdist War. It was the site of the Battle of El-Obeid in 1883, where the Egyptian army, under British command, was defeated by the Mahdist forces led by Muhammad Ahmad, who declared himself the Mahdi.
